Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Wastebins.ca and any rental, purchase, or service order placed through the site, dispatch line, or in-person at a depot.

1. Rental Agreement Basics

A rental order is confirmed when you receive a booking confirmation email with order number and depot dispatch ID. Standard rental period is 7 calendar days from drop-off. The placement site must be a stable, level surface capable of supporting the loaded bin (typically 3-15 tons depending on size). You agree not to place the bin on soft turf, septic fields, gas-line markings, or unprotected interlock without prior approval from dispatch.

2. Pricing, Payment, and Invoicing

Quoted prices include drop-off, pickup, 7 days of rental, and disposal up to the stated weight cap. Pricing is in Canadian dollars and exclusive of applicable taxes (HST, GST/QST, PST). Payment options: credit card on delivery or pickup, or net-15 invoicing for approved commercial accounts. We do not pre-authorize cards or hold deposits.

Overage charges: bins exceeding the stated weight cap incur a per-tonne surcharge at the depot tipping rate plus a $25 administrative fee. We email the scale ticket as proof. Common cap-busters: clean concrete, asphalt, dirt — flag heavy loads at booking and we'll classify the bin correctly upfront.

3. Prohibited Materials

The following materials are prohibited in all rental bins: hazardous waste, liquid paint, motor oil, fuel, propane tanks, refrigerant gas, lead-acid batteries, tires, asbestos, biological waste, radioactive material, and consumer electronics (covered under provincial e-waste programs). Discovery of prohibited materials at the transfer station incurs a per-incident handling fee of $50-$1,500 depending on classification, charged back to the renter.

4. Cancellation and Rescheduling

You may cancel or reschedule without charge up to 4 hours before the delivery window starts. Cancellations within 4 hours of a confirmed delivery window incur a flat $75 dispatch fee to cover routing labour and depot-loading time. Once the bin is on your driveway, the rental is non-cancellable, though you may request early pickup (no refund for unused days).

5. Permits and Placement

You are responsible for ensuring the placement site is legally permitted to receive the bin. Driveway and private-property placement does not require a permit. Street, boulevard, or sidewalk placement requires a municipal occupancy permit, which we will file on your behalf with 48 hours notice (permit fees pass through at cost; our filing service is no-charge). Bins placed on public space without a permit may be moved or impounded by the municipality at your expense.

6. Property Damage and Liability

Roll-off bins are heavy. While our drivers are trained and insured, surface damage to driveways, asphalt cracks, and minor scratches to interlock are a known risk of placement. We recommend using plywood ramps under the rear wheels for soft-surface placement; we provide these on request at no charge. Pre-existing surface damage should be noted to the driver at drop-off. Our liability for placement damage is limited to documented direct repair costs and excludes consequential or aesthetic claims.

You are responsible for damage to the bin caused by misuse — fire, overloading, attempting to move the bin yourself, or contamination from prohibited materials.

7. Bin Purchases

New roll-off and front-load bin purchases are governed by a separate Sales Agreement provided at the time of order. Standard structural warranty is 5 years against manufacturing defect; powder-coat warranty is 2 years. Custom paint and branding orders are non-refundable once production begins.

8. Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes will be addressed first through good-faith negotiation with our customer service team. Unresolved disputes proceed to mediation in Toronto, Ontario, before any court action. Quebec residents retain all rights under Quebec consumer protection law.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date reflects the most recent revision. Terms in effect at the time of your order govern that specific rental or purchase, even if posted terms subsequently change.
