We built the bin rental company we wanted to use.
In 2009 we ran one truck out of a Mississauga lot. Today it's a fleet of 38 across five depots — Mississauga, Hamilton, Ottawa, Lachine, Calgary — serving every metro from Halifax to Victoria. We're privately held and not part of any franchise system.
The reason we exist: brokers and franchise networks treat dumpster rental like a yield-management problem. We treat it like a service business. That means transparent pricing on every page, bilingual dispatch picking up before the third ring, drivers who've been with us 6+ years, and a flat refusal to charge the five hidden fees the industry treats as standard.
What we've built since 2009.
Five recent reviews — one from each region we serve.
“On a 14-yard bin landed within three hours of the call. Le chauffeur parle français, le prix a été transparent, no broker BS. We use them on every reno now.”
“We manage 14 condo buildings in metro Vancouver. Wastebins handles all our quarterly bulk-waste pickups plus one-off renovations. Bilingual dispatch, transparent pricing, no surprise fees.”
“Booked at 9 AM for a basement cleanout, bin arrived by 12:30. The 14-yard was the right call — fit everything from the demo with room to spare. Picked up exactly when they said.”
“Switched from a national chain to Wastebins for our 4-yard commercial front-load. Same trucks, same pickup schedule, 17% less per month. The painted-to-spec finish matches our exterior.”
“I run 20+ rentals a year. Bought a 20-yard roll-off from them after they helped me run the rent-vs-buy math — paid for itself in 9 months. Highly recommend.”
Common questions about Wastebins.ca.
How fast can you deliver a dumpster?
Same-day if you book before 11 AM local time, with deliveries typically landing within 4 hours of confirmation. Our five Canadian depots in Mississauga, Lachine, Calgary, Surrey, and Halifax run a tight morning dispatch — drivers leave between 7 and 8 AM with the day's routes locked. After 11 AM, you're looking at next-day morning delivery, which still beats most national chains by 48-72 hours. For bookings outside our standard 60 cities, expect a 1-2 day lead time as we coordinate the closest depot route. Long-distance flatbed deliveries are quoted separately. Dispatch line answers 7 AM - 7 PM local time, 6 days a week.
Do I need a deposit or card on file?
No deposit, no card pre-authorization, no hold on your credit limit. We collect payment when the bin is dropped off or on pickup — your choice. This is intentional: brokers and middleman chains pre-auth $500-$1,500 to pad their margins and lock you in. We own the trucks and depots, so we can afford to invoice on completion instead of holding your money hostage. Net-15 invoicing is the default for commercial accounts with 1+ year of operating history; cash-on-delivery is standard for first-time orders until we build payment history. We never pre-auth your credit card or place a hold against your limit.
What size dumpster do I need?
The 10-yard handles a single-room cleanout or small bathroom reno (~3 pickup-truck loads). The 14-yard is our most popular — kitchen renovations, basement cleanouts, mid-size projects (~4-5 truck loads). The 20-yard covers whole-home renovations, roofing tear-offs, and large clutter clearances (~7 truck loads). For demolition or new construction, the 30 and 40-yard absorb structural debris by the ton. Our dumpster sizes guide includes weight caps, footprint dimensions, and material rules. Construction debris projects with concrete or asphalt should size DOWN, not up, because heavy materials hit weight caps before they fill volume. Our dispatch flags these at booking to prevent mid-project overage charges.
How much does it cost?
A 10-yard rental starts at $349 CAD in most Canadian cities for a 7-day rental. Pricing scales: $349 (10-yard), $429 (14-yard), $549 (20-yard), $749 (30-yard), $949 (40-yard) — these are our standard rates in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. Smaller cities run 5-15% lower. Every quote includes delivery, pickup, 7 days of rental, and disposal at a licensed transfer station. No fuel surcharges, no admin fees, no after-the-fact tipping fees unless you exceed the weight cap. Quoted prices are all-in: delivery, 7 days of rental, pickup, and disposal up to the weight cap. No fuel surcharges, no environmental fees, no administrative fees. Taxes (HST/GST/QST/PST) are added per province. Net-15 invoicing available for commercial accounts.
Do I need a permit?
Only if the bin sits on a public street, sidewalk, or boulevard. A bin on your driveway or private property never requires a permit anywhere in Canada. If you need street placement in Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal cores, we file the permit on your behalf with 48 hours notice — no upcharge, just adds prep time. The municipalities charge $25-$95 for the permit itself, which passes through to your invoice at cost. Permit timing matters: Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal cores require 48-hour lead time for street placement. We file the permit on your behalf if you give us notice; municipal fees pass through at cost. Bins on private driveways never require a permit.
What can I put in the dumpster?
Almost all renovation and household debris: drywall, lumber, plaster, furniture, appliances (with refrigerants removed), flooring, fixtures, yard waste, clean concrete, and shingles. Excluded: hazardous waste, paint, oil, refrigerant gas, propane tanks, tires, lead-acid batteries, asbestos, and electronics — these route through provincial waste streams (Stewardship Ontario, RecycFluo, Encorp BC). See our complete what-goes-in-a-dumpster guide for the line-by-line list and any special-handling fees. For prohibited items, we route through provincial waste streams: Stewardship Ontario (paint, oil), RecycFluo (fluorescent bulbs), ARPE-Quebec (electronics), Encorp BC (beverage containers). We can advise on the closest hazardous-waste depot in your city. Disposal alternatives are documented in our what-goes-in-a-dumpster guide.
What is your service area?
60 Canadian cities across all 10 provinces: Ontario (Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, London + 14 more), Quebec (Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, Gatineau + 5 more), BC (Vancouver, Victoria, Surrey, Burnaby + 6 more), Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton + 4 more), plus full coverage of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, and Newfoundland & Labrador. Our depot network puts most metros within 45 minutes drive-time of a same-day-capable truck. Our five depots position fleet within 4-hour radius of most metros: Mississauga (GTA + southwestern Ontario), Hamilton (Niagara + Brantford), Ottawa (National Capital Region), Lachine (Greater Montreal + Eastern Townships), Calgary (Western Canada). Smaller communities are served via partner haulers.
Do you offer bilingual service?
Yes. Dispatch operates in English and French at all hours. All Quebec deliveries are handled by francophone drivers and our Lachine depot — invoices, contracts, and customer service in French by default for Quebec accounts. Outside Quebec, our central dispatch can switch to French on request. The website is fully mirrored at /fr/ with every page, FAQ, guide, and form translated by humans (not machine). The Lachine depot operates entirely in French — dispatch, driver communication, invoicing, and customer service. All Quebec-bound contracts use French by default. For Ontario, Manitoba, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia customers requesting French service, our central dispatch routes through Lachine staff.
Can I rent a dumpster long-term?
Yes. Standard rental is 7 days, with daily extensions at $25-$45 depending on bin size. Construction projects routinely book monthly ($550-$1,400/month) or quarterly rates — call dispatch for terms. We have customers running the same 30-yard on-site for 6+ months at flat monthly rates. There's no contract minimum: keep it as long as you need, return it when you don't. Long-term construction rentals (6+ months) qualify for flat monthly rates: $550-$1,400/month depending on bin size. We have customers running the same 30-yard at a Calgary infill site for 14 months continuously. No contract minimums, but multi-month bookings get priority dispatch.
Do you sell dumpsters too?
Yes. Our buy-a-dumpster option sells new roll-off bins to contractors who exceed 14 rentals per year (the break-even point): 10-yard ($5,900), 20-yard ($8,900), 30-yard ($11,400), 40-yard ($13,800). We also sell 2/4/6-yard front-load commercial bins for restaurants, condos, offices, and property managers at $2,400-$4,100 CAD with custom paint colours available at no upcharge on 3+ unit orders. Financing available through LeasingCANADA. Financing through LeasingCANADA: fast decision for established commercial accounts, 24 hours for new accounts. Typical terms 36-60 months, monthly payments $220-$380 for a 20-yard roll-off. Custom paint and branding is no upcharge on 3+ unit orders. Custom paint matching your fleet colour is included on orders of 3 or more units.
What about commercial accounts?
Contractors running 10+ rentals per year qualify for tiered pricing (5-12% off list, depending on volume). Property managers ordering 5+ bins get bulk discounts and consolidated monthly invoicing. Restaurants and condos can combine roll-off rental (for renovations) with front-load weekly service (for ongoing waste). Net-15 invoicing standard for established accounts, COD for first-time orders until we build payment history. Multi-location property management groups (REITs, condo boards) get consolidated monthly invoicing across all sites. Restaurant chains can sync bin rotations to franchise schedules. Government and institutional accounts (schools, hospitals, transit) follow MFIPPA-compliant procurement processes. Contact our commercial sales team for tiered pricing and consolidated invoicing terms.
How are you priced versus the chains?
Typically 10-15% below national franchise chains on a like-for-like 14-yard rental. We own our trucks and depots — no broker layer, no franchise royalty, no auto-escalation clauses in renewal contracts. Same-day delivery is standard pricing, not a rush upcharge. Where chains charge for fuel, environmental fees, and admin, our quote is the all-in number you'll see on the invoice. The trade-off is geographic: chains cover 200+ cities, we're focused on 60. We do not auto-escalate prices on renewal contracts — month-to-month customers pay the same rate in year 3 as year 1 unless transfer-station fees move materially, in which case we show you the receipt. National chains typically auto-escalate 18-28% annually under multi-year contracts.
What happens if I exceed the weight limit?
Every rental includes a tonnage allowance — 1 ton on the 10-yard up to 4 tons on the 40-yard. If you go over, the overage is billed once at pickup at $95/ton, weighed on a certified scale at the transfer station, and we send you the scale ticket. There is no surprise mid-rental charge and no penalty rate: you pay the same per-ton rate whether you are 100 lbs or 1,000 lbs over. Heavy materials like clean concrete, asphalt, brick, and soil hit the weight cap long before they fill the bin, so for those loads we recommend sizing down to a 10 or 14-yard — our dispatch flags this at booking to keep your invoice predictable.
Will the dumpster damage my driveway?
No. Our drivers place protective boards under the bin's contact points on request, and the roll-off frame distributes weight across its full length rather than point-loading the surface. On hot summer asphalt we board it by default. If you have interlock pavers, stamped concrete, or a freshly poured driveway, tell dispatch at booking and we plank it automatically. The bin is set down gently and lifted straight up at pickup — it does not drag across your surface. We treat your driveway as if it were our own.
How do I book — by phone or online?
Either works. Most customers use the online quote form — four fields, about sixty seconds — and get a texted price back during dispatch hours. You can also call (888) 663-2244 to book with a live dispatcher 7 AM to 7 PM local time, six days a week. No account, no card on file, and no deposit is required to reserve a bin: you confirm the drop date and we lock in the truck. Order before 11 AM local time and we deliver same day in most metros.
